Attorney, Director of Legal Operations

Mark Tieman is an experienced employment attorney and legal-operations leader who helps Frontier Law Center deliver fast, thoughtful, and strategic results for workers across California. As Director of Legal Operations, he oversees case investigation and evaluation, improves firm-wide execution, mentors attorneys and staff on complex issues, and leads the design and rollout of AI-driven systems that boost productivity, accuracy, and consistency. Frontier Law Center is recognized for integrating responsible AI into day-to-day legal work to strengthen case strategy and streamline litigation, and Mark is central to that development. Before joining Frontier, Mark built a national practice advising law firms and small businesses across the country on employment matters—translating real-world problems into clear, practical guidance and managing disputes from intake through resolution. From 2016 to 2018, he litigated at one of Philadelphia’s leading plaintiff-side employment firms, frequently appearing in federal court, briefing complex issues, and helping shape precedent (including a successful DTSA whistleblower-immunity decision in Christian v. Lannett Co., E.D. Pa. 2018). More recently, in 2023-2024, Mark led the successful litigation of a sexual discrimination and harassment case against a political figure in Atlanta, Georgia, recovering over $900,000 for his client (Brock v. Fulton County). A firm believer that treating employees the right way leads to stronger organizations, Mark brings equal parts empathy and rigor to every matter. In 2018–2019, he faced a rare health condition and a below-knee amputation; when he sought accommodations, he experienced retaliation and discrimination—an ordeal that sharpened his resilience, deepened his empathy, and fuels his passion for this work. When not advocating for employees, Mark enjoys time outdoors and being involved with adaptive athlete organizations.
