I came here at sixteen without speaking the language. I know what it feels like to be the person with the least power in the room. That's exactly who I went into law to fight for.

Samara Cidrim is an Associate Attorney at Frontier Law Center, where she advocates for California workers across all backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life.

Samara’s path to the law is the reason she practices it the way she does. She immigrated from Brazil at sixteen without speaking English, and with no one in her family or community who had walked a similar road, she made her way to a legal career through perseverance and hard work alone. That experience shapes how she sees her clients. She understands what it feels like to face a system that wasn’t built for you, and she brings that understanding to every case.

She’ll tell you she became a lawyer to help as many people as possible while providing for her family, and that the power suits didn’t hurt either. She once thought politics was the best route to public service, but came to realize that practicing law gave her a far more direct way to make a difference in people’s lives. She chose employment law specifically because it lets her advocate for people who often feel powerless, including many from minority and underserved communities. Helping clients understand and enforce their rights is the part of the work she finds most meaningful, and she’s clear about what matters most to her. Becoming a lawyer is not the accomplishment she’s proudest of. Using that career to help and empower others is.

Samara’s commitment extends well beyond her caseload. She serves as a board member of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, volunteers through the Immigration Law Society, and mentors through the Beverly Hills Bar Association. The principle behind all of it is one she states simply: do good, surround yourself with good people, and life tends to reward you.

Outside of work, Samara cycles, travels, and seeks out new cultures, and she and her wife cook and distribute meals to members of the homeless community every few weeks. She’s also a devoted rock concert fan, though she’ll happily admit that standing through a three-hour show reminds her she’s not as young as she used to be. What ties it all together is something travel taught her early: people are far more alike than different.
